How about some positive splits.  Not intentional.  The last two laps were extremely difficult for me.  I just blew up at the end.  I did the workout at the hottest time of the day (4:00 PM) on the hottest day of the week (78° F) and didn't bring any water.  The heat killed me.  My HR monitor recorded the highest rate ever at 195 bpm.

Good workout, despite the blow-up at the end! I knew this was going to be a tough one and the heat probably made the goal pace a little ambitious. Two things for next time - 1) start at goal pace or a little slower 2) be willing to cut the rep short or extend recovery time. Nice prep for the 5k next week!

I switched my workout from Thursday afternoon to this morning because I knew there was a chance of a heat-related blowup. 80 degrees won't feel bad in a month, but when you aren't used to it yet, it's rough! Sounds like your heart was about the explode by the end.

Good advice Andrea. I always have that problem of being a little too eager at the beginning. And I didn't even consider extending the recovery or bailing, but now I wish I would have. I hope I didn't do something that I won't be able to recover from in a reasonable amount of time.

Jake, someday I'm going to start making smart training decisions. I'm so used to running in the wee hours when it's cool and my body was a bit surprised by the hotter weather.
